Journalism is, perhaps, the strongest tool of a social movement. During the civil rights movement, coverage of the Children’s Crusade and the violence committed by segregationist governments empowered the civil rights movement and showed the world the hateful extent of the American racial hierarchy. It was journalism in the Gilded Age that led to the creation of the labor laws and drove the progressive movement. With this in mind, we want to create a youth-focused journal, for those who wish to have an outlet for progressive writing.
